Mechanical Engineering Apprentice

  • Description: We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is keen to progress in the world of engineering and who has a real passion and desire to understand the workings of machinery and who has a flair for fixing and solving mechanical problems. The Apprenticeship is for 12 months with a possible opportunity to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship/employment. No experience necessary and full training provided. Prior to attending your apprenticeship you may be required to attend a 6 week programme gaining your Level 1 Certificate in Engineering. On successful completion of this, you will move onto your paid apprenticeship with the Employer where 1 day a week will be spent in classroom/workshop based learning to gain your Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations and Diploma in Engineering and Technology and 4 days with your employer. On successful completion of your Level 2 Apprenticeship, you will then be given the opportunity to progress to the Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme. Good IT skills are also essential combined with a minimum of 5 GCSE's grade A - C including Maths and English or equivalent. The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship.
