Lean Engineering and Manufacturing Academy (LEMA) and Lean Education and Development Ltd (LEAD) have merged

We are extremely delighted to announce that Lean Engineering and Manufacturing Academy (LEMA) and Lean Education and Development Ltd (LEAD) have now merged with effect from Monday 19th April 2021.

Both LEMA and LEAD have a shared vision, meaning we are able to continue our tradition for excellent service, unrivalled expertise, and an environment our clients and learners want to be a part of. This merger offers a unique opportunity to bring together two organisations to enhance both the quality and choice of programmes on offer.

Our vision

Our employers and learners deserve the highest quality teaching, learning, and skills training. This merger brings together two complementary specialisms and strengths, to create a single organisation offering comprehensive vocational education and training from pre-employability programmes through to degree apprenticeships, providing a fully rounded end-to-end offering.

Our vision throughout has always been for the newly merged organisation to be a beacon of vocational excellence. Growing together, we will strive to create a vibrant and high-performing training provider that will bring many benefits.

Through the additions to our provision, we are able to adapt, evolve, solidify and expand an already successful prospectus with new opportunities, new products and a fully rounded offering appealing to all learners, employers and future partnerships.


  • Level 2 – Lean Manufacturing Operative standard – Apprenticeship providing a ‘grass routes’ introduction into Lean techniques and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
  • Level 3 – Lean Technician standard – Apprenticeship meeting the complex training needs of organisations looking to become ‘leaner and more dynamic’ with cost savings and reduction in waste.
  • Level 3 – Engineering Technician standard – Apprenticeship reflecting an employers’ requirements for the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected when designing, building, servicing and repairing a range of engineering products and services.
  • Level 4 – Improvement Practitioner standard – Apprenticeship translating Continuous Improvement knowledge into applied workplace action, providing a blend of Lean and Six Sigma, project and change management principles, distributing change across organisational functions and processes.

Short courses (3 months) – fully funded

  • Level 2 Diploma in Business Improvement Techniques
  • Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills
  • Level 1 and 2 Functional Skills
